Our team-matching service for business clients and other groups continues to grow with the facilitation of 83 volunteer projects/placements made, an increase on the previous year of 43%. These included placements made for established business supporters Yarra Valley Water, ConnectEast, Glaxo Smith Kline and Hewlett Packard.
In 2015-2016, over 1000 Corporate Volunteers gave their time to volunteer with our agency members – this equated to a financial contribution to the sector of approximately $124, 000.
These Corporate Volunteers helped in a wide variety of volunteering opportunities which included gardening, general working bees, sorting donated items and helping at events. Our placements assisted over 30 agencies that included nationally recognised organisations such as The Salvation Army and the Starlight Foundation as well as locally based organisations such as Irabina and Strathdon Aged Care.
As our Corporate Volunteering program advances, we will continue to seek ways to increase our engagement with the business community through consulting services, workshops and events. The past year has seen some positive advances with requests for corporate volunteering related assistance from organisations across Melbourne.
To sum up the year and our programme, I think Helen Keller said it best;
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”.
